Treatment
Treatment 1st draft
My target audience
my target audience is 16-25 year olds, more likely girls and women therefore I want to attract them through exciting visuals and bright colours that peak interest. I want to make the thumbnail of my video draw attention with a still shot of a bright coloured shot of the perfmormative element of my video. I also aim to use people of the same age in my video, this is partly due to convenience a I fit into my own target audience and so do my friends so using them as characters in my video will be accessible this is also useful as using people of the same age as my target audience makes it relatable and allows my target audience to see themselves in the video.
Location plans
for the intertextual reference of the prom scene in back to the future I have a village hall with a stage that would be perfect. it costs £12/hour and hopefully if I plan and efficiently execute the shots I need for the video I will only use it for an hour or two and save money. I will also film other elements of the video in this space and possibly plan a dance sequence to add variety and more to the narrative.
for the studio set elements I'm planning on filming I'll be able to execute anywhere, possibly outside in a local park as daylight would save using artificial lighting etc. outdoor settings will also lend to the summer bright vibe I'm aiming to achieve with my performative scenes.
equipment plans
for the film I will be able to use my iphone camera although I do know friends from which I could borrow a DSLR. if I would be using the camera I would have to source a tripod.
for my indoor scenes I will have to source coloured lighting, I have some large flashlights that I can cover with coloured plastics to get brightly coloured lighting I can also use lamps and ask friends for whatever lighting they wouldn't mind me using etc
for the scenes that would appear to take place on set I would be able to shoot outdoors and not rely on lighting, I would simply have to use large coloured paper for bright contrasting colours and possibly a stand to hold up said paper and suspend it as a background
Crew roles
in terms of a crew I would probably be the only member but I aim to have friends involved in the video and on set when they're not performing in the video. it should be easy enough to record on my own but if not I will have at least one or two other people who can help with props and effects that happen pre editing like light flickers etc..
Effects in video
I aim to use minimal effects in post production as I think the video won't require visual effects. I'm going for a real and uncut feel however I may use high contrast and colour editing to create the palette of colours I want for the video e.g high contrasting bright tones. I may change the aspect ratio to show a clear distinction between the narrative and performative elements although they do crossover at points
