Statement of Intent - final

For my music video I aim to use media language to create a pop music video experience that is upbeat fun and engaging as well as including representations that reflect the unrealistic standards of beauty placed on women in society through the male gaze and the media. I plan to target the 16-25 demographic as stated in the brief, this includes my “perfect audience member” that, in terms of class, can range anything from the C2 to AB. The representations I plan on using should be relatable to both my audience member, who is typically female, and anyone that views it. I will use the narrative in the video to promote my artist “Matthew Moore” and spread a message of positivity, encouraging others to view the video and spread the message further. To achieve this I will use mise-en-scene to reflect the damage holding women to unrealistic standards has upon their self-esteem and self-image. The performers and characters in the video will be dressed in bright colours and outfits that make ...

Artist logo and title of song

I plan on putting the artist logo at the bottom of the frame and having it last for 10 seconds in the introduction alongside the title of the song. once i have images ill place them in this blog page

Story plan

A story plan:  ·       Artist (male character) and his female counter part represent the contrast between male and female  ·       The artist is being obnoxious and arrogant boasting the women he sleeps with etc (“I get all the girls”) reviewing them rating them out of ten generally being grim representation of men viewing women as sex objects, aim to show an array of girls and or women of all different shapes and sizes and ages to represent the diversity of female beauty. Him being represented as obnoxious and rude by being rude to women shows that women and their body type isn’t the problem etc its men that view women as pieces of meat ·       The female character is unimpressed and she becomes the object of desire he can’t have. I hope to use a w.o.c and one that doesn’t necessarily fit the westernised standard of beauty to show that marginalised women are desirable. ·   ...

Original images plan

Image
1: an image of the artist and his female counterpart in the set part of my video a headshot with maybe a prop from the video featuring and maybe have them back to back to show the contrast between the two 2: an image of the artist in the prom scene possibly the artist has undone his tie and is hangingg his feet off the side of the stage, possibly a mid show to capture the whole group 3: an image of the femalee counterpart of the artist in the prom scene stood alone under a spotlight, possibly with the disco ball lights reflecting off of her face in her dress possibly blankly looking up at the stage using an expression she's seen using in her video maybe a high angle 4: an image of the artist alone in an outdoor element of the scene, the end shot of the video sat in a field/grassy hill alone with a party hat and balloon with a dog or goat or something next to him, wide shot to emphasis how the party is over 5: an image of the artist and their female counterpart in the be...

Treatment

Treatment 1st draft My target audience my target audience is 16-25 year olds, more likely girls and women therefore I want to attract them through exciting visuals and bright colours that peak interest. I want to make the thumbnail of my video draw attention with a still shot of a bright coloured shot of the perfmormative element of my video. I also aim to use people of the same age in my video, this is partly due to convenience a I fit into my own target audience and so do my friends so using them as characters in my video will be accessible this is also useful as using people of the same age as my target audience makes it relatable and allows my target audience to see themselves in the video. Location plans  for the intertextual reference of the prom scene in back to the future I have a village hall with a stage that would be perfect. it costs £12/hour and hopefully if I plan and efficiently execute the shots I need for the video I will only use it for an hour or two and s...
